YouTube is the primary use case for most users, and KlipTools handles it comprehensively. You can download public YouTube videos in 360p, 480p, 720p HD, or 1080p Full HD. YouTube downloads are limited to 1080p, so 4K and 8K are not offered. Audio extraction is fully supported: download just the audio track as MP3, M4A, WAV, or FLAC. This is the fastest way to save a music video, podcast, lecture, or interview as a portable audio file. YouTube Shorts are also supported: paste the Shorts URL just like any other YouTube link.
TikTok videos downloaded through KlipTools come without the TikTok watermark that appears when you use TikTok's own in-app save feature. The watermark TikTok burns into downloaded clips is a branding overlay that degrades the visual quality for repurposing or personal archiving. KlipTools fetches the clean source file directly, so you get the original video your creator uploaded — no overlay, no logo in the corner.
Download Instagram Reels, feed posts (photos and videos), Stories (while they are still live), and IGTV videos by pasting the post URL. Instagram does not offer a native download option for most content types, making a browser-based downloader particularly useful for saving content you want to keep — your own posts, a recipe video, a tutorial, or a clip a friend shared before the Story expires. KlipTools shows the qualities and formats that the source platform offers for a given video. Here is what each option means. YouTube downloads stop at 1080p, and a file larger than 500 MB is refused, so if you see that message, pick a lower quality.

Audio-only files are dramatically smaller — a 15-minute video at 1080p might be 400 MB, while the same content as MP3 is under 20 MB. Only publicly accessible posts can be downloaded — private account content is not reachable.
No. KlipTools can only access publicly available video content. Private YouTube videos (those set to "Private" by the uploader) require authenticated access to the uploader's Google account, which KlipTools does not have. Unlisted YouTube videos — those accessible via link but not shown in search results or on the channel page — can generally be downloaded since they are technically public content if you have the link.
This depends on your jurisdiction and what you do with the downloaded content. YouTube's terms of service prohibit downloading content unless a download button or link is provided by YouTube (such as the offline feature in YouTube Premium). However, laws in many countries permit downloading for personal, non-commercial use. Downloading and then redistributing, monetizing, or publicly displaying content you do not own is a copyright infringement regardless of jurisdiction. KlipTools is a tool — how you use it is your responsibility. Download only content you own, have permission to download, or that is licensed for free use.
Our server downloads the video first, then you download it from us. How long that takes depends on the video size and the platform's speed. A 5-minute YouTube video at 1080p is typically 150–350 MB, which transfers to you in about 15–30 seconds on a 100 Mbps connection once it is ready. Audio-only downloads are dramatically faster: an MP3 of the same 5-minute video is under 10 MB.
A few things can cause a download to fail: the video is private or region-locked, the platform has recently changed how it serves content (which can briefly break compatibility), the video has been deleted, or your network blocked the request. Try refreshing the page and pasting the URL again. If the problem persists, the video may be temporarily unavailable from the platform's side. KlipTools updates its underlying engine (yt-dlp) regularly to stay compatible with platform changes — if a major platform breaks, a fix usually follows within days.
For video, MP4 is the standard output and the format that plays on everything. Some platforms also serve content in WebM, which KlipTools will show as an option when available. For audio, the available formats are MP3, M4A, WAV, and FLAC. If you need a different format (for example, AVI, MOV, or OGG), download the MP4 or MP3 first and then use a converter tool to reformat — the KlipTools suite also includes an Audio Converter for this purpose.
